I’m terrible at picking favorites and while I’m not sure if this is my absolutely favorite scene, I think it certainly is a memorable one.
For me, this scene reaffirms the overall theme of this series: there is a camaraderie that forms in combat through blood and loss.
You think about the fact that - as individuals - the German soldiers have lost their respective closest friends. There is a German version of Skip and Malarkey. There is a Babe who couldn’t save his Julian. There is a Toye who lost a limb, there is a Guarnere who risked his own life to save his buddy, and there is a Compton who witnessed it all.
The Germans have their own brotherhood, just as the men of Easy do.
